✔ Passport
• Valid U.S. passport required. It should be valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates with 2 blank pages for immigration stamps.
✔ Visa
• U.S. citizens must obtain an Indian visa before travel — visas are not issued upon arrival.
• The most common option is an e-Visa (tourist) that you apply for online at least a few days before departure.
• Ensure your visa type matches your travel purpose and entry point; otherwise, you could be refused entry.
✔ Arrival Documentation
• Starting October 2025, all foreign nationals (including U.S. passport holders) must complete an electronic arrival form online through the Indian visa website before immigration — this replaces the old paper disembarkation card (paper forms accepted until early 2026).
✔ Health & Vaccination
• COVID-19: No proof of vaccination or negative test is currently required to enter India.
• Yellow Fever: If you are arriving from or through a country with yellow fever risk, you must show a vaccination certificate.
• Other vaccinations (e.g., hepatitis A/B, typhoid, MMR) are recommended for general health but typically not enforced for entry.
